#3: My Passion for Writing
A picture is worth a thousand words - so let me paint you a picture from time to time~
For many people, writing started as an outlet for their overflowing imagination - to create worlds with characters and stories unseen - and their abundant curiosity - the observations, thoughts, and perspectives of the world around us.
This is what writing is for me; writing started as a way for me to tell stories of a world that existed in my childlike imagination, and it evolved into a way to record the thoughts and experiences (such as emotions, feelings and sensations) that my mouth struggles to express and share - at least in a manner that can be sensibly decoded.
Writing quickly became a form of raw communication in my life, with hand-written letters being used as a way to express the feelings and thoughts that raced through my mind, body, and soul.
“No longer do 5 thoughts fight for control, for only 1 can be written at a time.”
There are some moments in my life where I won’t have the words to describe an experience, but perhaps in 5 years I’ll expand my vocabulary and go, “Oh… so that’s the word I’ve been looking for all this time.”
My writing has evolved throughout my life, much like my photography has, yet it remains the single greatest method for sustaining and nourishing my imagination; the biggest development has been that I’ve started to share my stories alongside my photography, in hopes of expressing my curiosity and love for the world.
Our words are magical in many ways, carrying our ideas and intentions, and having an impact on people in varying degrees.
Writing is a way for me to make these powerful words of mine tangible while ensuring I speak with wisdom, grace, curiosity, and positivity.
The pen has just as much power as the sword, especially with the correct context.
Titled “World at Rest” (2020). This was taken at the end of the Great Ocean Road in Australia; the haze was residual smog from the Australian wildfires that had ravaged the land back in December 2019 until May 2020, While the sunset hadn’t been clear, it gave a very unique perspective - then and now, as I reflect on the memory.
